Rebecca Creighton Has Left Belle Amie To Fulfill Her Dreams Of Solo Stardom

I have to admit I saw this one coming. I have always loved Belle Amie's music and fashion style but Dubliner Rebecca Creighton has always stood out to me.


And I'm not the only one. US superstar Katy Perry picked her out at the X Factor auditions two years ago and said she saw big things for her. Now Rebecca has made the brave decision to go it alone and follow her dreams to be a solo artist.

After several offers to go it alone in the music industry Rebecca told Miss Red Blog, that she is ready to move on and start a fresh.

‘This isn't a decision that I just made over night, I've been thinking about this for a long time. It has definitely been a long time coming. Sometimes you need to just let go, I need to think of my career. I really gave Belle Amie two good years and I have the best fans in the world, I want them to know I love them all and I want to thank them for all their support.

'I don’t regret any of it for the world but now I really just want to work on my own. Loads of people have contacted me saying they are interested. Even when I was in Belle Amie I was constantly getting contacted from people asking me would I go solo but at the time I wanted to give Belle Amie 100 percent. Even fans were emailing me saying that I should go out by myself.'

Now her dream is to break America. The only female pop singer to get an international hit was Samantha Mumba, and Rebecca said she would love to get back in touch with X Factor judge Louis Walsh, who managed Samantha.

‘When I get myself together and I’ve done all my songs I’d love to get back in contact with Louis. Samantha Mumba has been the only Irish female singer to do well outside Ireland and that was thanks to him. Obviously having Simon Cowell would 100% make a difference. I would love to meet him again and just sing for him but I’m not allowed audition for the X Factor again because I already made it to the live shows.'

Although some Belle Amie fans aren't too happy about Rebecca leaving the band, the Tallaght singer says no one really knows how hard it was to deal with constant knock backs.

‘After the X Factor we had to compete with all the other acts releasing material and then the gigs just started to fade and fade until there was nothing left. And although our management was paying for our apartment and food, I don’t even know what we did for money. A lot goes on behind closed doors, no one really knows how tough it is. Then our manager left us in November and we all moved out. 

'We weren't getting bookings anymore because we didn't have a big enough following. It just didn't work out. And a lot of people gave us false hope. The biggest thing I have learned over the last two years is to never ever rely on people in this industry, never trust people. If someone says 'I can get you to America tomorrow” don’t ever trust them. Don’t believe it until you are there. Even if Simon Cowell rang me right now and said I want you to come over to America I wouldn’t believe it until I was actually over there with him.'

Right now Rebecca is getting some tracks together for her debut solo album and she is about to release a music video alongside well known Dublin rapper Rob Kelly.

‘I’m in the middle of shooting a video with rapper Rob Kelly for a song called The Real Thing. I’m just going to focus on getting support slots for big acts and I know I have a lot of hard work ahead of me, but I’m ready for that. I have been already co-writing songs, so I have a lot of material that is ready to go.'

Whether or not Belle Amie will continue to or not remains to be seen. Rebecca says 'I couldn't tell you what they're going to do.'

But it's clear that the future is bright for Rebecca. She is already writing her own songs and working with some talented artists.

Lastly Rebecca says she has already started working on new material and she is willing to work hard for the rest of her life.

‘I entered the X Factor as a soloist, I always wanted a solo career. I’ve always had my own ideas and my own route that I wanted to go. So I knew I was always going to end up as a solo artist. I really just want to get out there and work now. I have so many ideas. I will work 24/7 for the rest of my life to make it.'

For the first time singer Avril Lavigne looks like a mature woman. The Complicated singer has always dressed and acted like a teenage girl, but the Canadian star has given her fans a glimpse into her sexier side.

Avril, who has been dating The Hills star Brody Jenner for the last year has never done a sexy shoot but for the first time the divorced singer has shown off her killer body.

The singer made the new video for Goodbye especially for her fans, to say farewell at the end of her tour. The emotional song, which is also the title of her album, is a special one for Avril, as she wrote it about her ex-husband Deryck Whibley when they split.

Rihanna Films New Music Video In Ireland

Well this is quite random, but I love it.

International superstar and awesome lady Rihanna has decided to film her latest music video 'We Found Love' in Co. Down of all places.

The songstress is currently in Northern Ireland for her Irish leg of her world tour. In the new video Rihanna seems to be dressed up as a country girl, roaming the Irish fields and there is a nice bit of machinery thrown in there in the background (how lovely).

RiRi is just back from Rio where she performed the same weekend as pal Katy Perry, but instead of filming in the exotic location it seems that Ireland is her perfect place.

Rihanna will be performing in Dublin's O2 on Monday the 3rd of October.

Wow things have definitely changed in the life of Leona Lewis.

The first time we met this English beauty she was a shy, sweet call-centre worker and now she is a superstar. Getting rid of her trademark blonde curly locks and innocent look, Leona has transformed into a vixen over night and is set to showcase a whole new music vibe with this album.

Already her debut single Collide has shown how versatile she really is, and she is definitely more confident as she flaunts around in shorts and a bikini in the video.

Jupe - The Making Up Music Video 'Get Up'

Yes I got the chance to hang out with up and coming Dublin band JUPE this week on the making of their debut music video 'Get Up'.

I can tell you right now that these guys are going to storm the Irish music charts, with their brand new single already getting airplay, a funky style and up beat sound, these guys are definitely the one's to watch.

Standing on the roof-top of The Clarence hotel, the foursome looked so passionate about their music and making it to the top, but they did have a mess about too (rock n roll lifestyle and all that).

Lying on the bed with Dublin model Aoife Hogan, Lead singer Tim Night (26), Lead guitarist Phil Costello (25), Drummer Brendon Reenie (26) and bassist Jonesy (23) posed for a Rolling Stone type cover.

So what are they about? Well Tim tells me that they have no Irish influences at all, and aren't aiming to be the new Script or Snow Patrol, instead their inspirations lie with US bands Maroon 5, and musician John Mayer:

"We actually have no influences in Ireland or the UK, they are all in America." Tim laughed.

And the boys are hoping to break America with their debut single and music video. Lead singer Tim says that they have hired a Grammy award-winning music producer in LA to help them launch their career:

"We've been together about two years and last year we all got together and decided we had to go for it. At this stage we have each put thousands of euro into this of our own money. But right now Bob Cuteralla is over in America pitching our CD to record labels and TV shows. We really hope to get TV placements."

"We used our own money from savings and working. Now we are getting paid for gigs so it's great. But of course we want to break America."

And if Bob's list of clients are anything to go by, these guys should have no problem breaking into the US music charts. He has worked with the likes of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Frank Sanatra and Sting.

Hanging out with the guys in The Clarence, drinking beers, playing the guitar and chatting with their video crew it's clear that JUPE have put all their time and effort into making a name for themselves and getting into the charts.

Yes singer Cheryl Cole was all smiles last night as she partied the night away with her music manager and Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am.

The gorgeous Geordie sported a casual look, with messy curls, a dark tan, red lips and a bright white strapless dress. The singer looked happier than ever as she leaned into Will, who is said to be helping her launch her US music career.

Cheryl seems to have finally put her disasterous relationship with Ashley Cole behind her, as she has moved into a top LA pad and looks to be settling in just fine.

Let's hope she finally moves on and focuses on her career.

Timbaland And Demi Lovato Making Music Together

It's finally happening.

When Demi Lovato went into Rehab last year Timbaland pledged that he would work with the Disney star once she got better.

The singer was in Rehab for eating disorders as well as bi polar disorder but since getting out she looks better than ever. Tweeting last night Timbaland said the pair were making sweet music together. "Me and demi workin on a hit baby! #demiandtimbaland." he wrote.

The famous music producer hasn't stopped tweeting about their new tunes all week. He told fans:

"yo @ddlovato you killed dat song i gave u. i just pick 2 more for you from one of the producer out my camp @wizz_dumb for u to do 2morrow. 4 this demi and timbo duet yall really need 2 thank my brother @darealsebastian and @byrd757 4 makin this happen. now lets make history."

And Demi isn't the only one in the studio right now, the gorgeous brunette, who was apparently dating Ryan Philippe for the last few months, is working alongside Missy Elliot too.

I can't wait to hear what Timbaland and Demi have come up with, but any tune Timbaland produces is always a hit!

Lady Gaga - "I used to be mistaken for Amy Winehouse"

The Queen of pop Lady Gaga has spoken out about the death of Amy Winehouse, saying that she used to be mistaken for the soul singer when she started out in the industry.

Gaga revealed her sadness at the 27-year-old's death, saying that although she didn't know Amy personally she says she was mistaken for her tonnes of times earlier on in her career:

"I loved her so much. I was nobody when she was first coming out. I have really dark hair and all the time on the street people would go, 'Amy!' And they would go, 'Back to Black'. They'd scream at me."

The 'Edge Of Glory' singer added that Amy's music made her feel good about herself:

"I loved her and I just remember feeling like I wasn't alone because she was so different and she was so special."



Gaga said she was mistaken for Winehouse with her dark hair.

 The quirky singer said that loosing such a great artist has been "devastating" and that she wants the public to treat stars better:

"It's really devastating and I think it's a lesson to the world: Don't kill the superstar. Take care of her. Take care of her soul."

Celebrity Tributes Pour In For Amy Winehouse

Celebrities all over the world have been remembering Amy Winehouse today, after her untimely death yesterday.

Mark Ronson, who worked on tracks with Amy such as 'Valerie' wrote on Twitter that the singer was like a "sister" to him:

"She was my musical soulmate and like a sister to me. This is one of the saddest days of my life."

Kelly Osbourne, a close friend of Amy's also posted a heartfelt tribute on her page:

"I cant even breath right now im crying so hard i just lost 1 of my best friends. i love you forever Amy & I will never forget the real you!"

Kelly and Amy were close friends.

 
Country singer LeAnn Rimes also paid tribute to the talented singer, saying:

"RIP Amy Winehouse. So sad to see such a talent gone and her life end in tragedy. This makes me terribly sad."

Radio DJ Fearne Cotton said: "Can not believe the news. Amy was a special girl. The saddest news."

Her untimely death means she joins the notorious '27 Club' of musicians who have died at that age after struggling to cope with fame. They include Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain who killed himself in 1994 by shooting himself, Rolling Stone Brian Jones, who drowned in a swimming pool in 1969 and guitarist Jimi Hendrix, who choked to death in 1970 after mixing wine with sleeping pills.

Kurt Cobain and other struggling musicians killed themselves at 27.

CNN host Piers Morgan also spoke about the sad news: "Such desperately sad news re Amy Winehouse. Supreme talent, terrible self-destructive addictive personality."

Presenter Phillip Schofield added: "Just heard the sad news that Amy Winehouse has died. At only 27 what a terrible waste of a great talent. Sincere condolences to her family."

Emma Bunton said: "Such sad news about Amy Winehouse. My thoughts are with her family."

Lily Allen was honest in her tribute, writing that Amy was struggling in life: "Its just beyond sad, there's nothing else to say. She was such a lost soul, may she rest in peace."

Singer Jessie J tweeted: "The way tears are streaming down my face. Such a loss."

And the tributes didn't end there. More of her fellow musicians took to Twitter to voice their sadness at the loss. Professor Green told fans: "I really hope she's at peace now. I don't wanna hear any chat about it's her own fault, addiction is a powerful demon."

Professor Green told fans not to diss Amy.

A tweet from pop band JLS read: "Times like this remind me why its so important to live life to the fullest!! Amy Winehouse you will be a LEGEND in all out hearts!"

Burlesque artist Dita Von Teese wrote: "Devastated. I spent extraordinary times with Amy. She sang for me once for hours, it was the most beautiful &touching thing. A huge loss."

Actress Demi Moore wrote on Twitter: "Truly sad news about Amy Winehouse. My heart goes out to her family. May her troubled soul find peace."

Chef Jamie Oliver wrote: "Such a terrible shame to loose Amy winehouse such a talent, such a waste, raw talent."

Presenter Davina McCall wrote: "Amy Winehouse found dead at her home. So very very sad. A huge talent."

Although this is a very sad time, and I do feel terrible for family, people do need to accept that this was her own fault and even though Professor Green said "addiction is a powerful demon" it is created by those who seek drugs or drink heavily.

Maybe this will stop a lot of other struggling addicts out there seek some help.

Breaking News: Amy Winehouse Found Dead!

This is so sad, and shocking.

Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her London home. The 27-year-old 'Rehab' singer was found this afternoon and police say her death is being treated as "unexplained".


In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said:

"Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased. On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained."

According to reports Amy's musician father Mitch has yet to hear the shocking news, as he is in the US performing at a jazz festival.

Winehouse had last been seen supporting her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield earlier this week as the teenager took to the stage at the iTunes festival.

At the gig Amy refused to join in for Mama Said, but did support the 14-year-old with a few dance moves before urging the crowd to buy Dionne's new album Good For The Soul.

A source said Amy was acting highly intoxicated at the gig: "Amy staggered onstage and grabbed the mic to beg the crowd to buy her protege’s new album."

Amy was in bad shape since she cancelled her European tour following a disastrous performance in June when she stumbled onto the stag.

A statement released at the time said she was taking time out to focus on her health and finally kick her addictions:

"Amy Winehouse is withdrawing from all scheduled performances. Everyone involved wishes to do everything they can to help her return to her best and she will be given as long as it takes for this to happen."

Amy first broke on the music scene back in 2006 with her multi-million selling album Back To Black, she has had a troubled life which has included various stints in rehab for drug and alcohol addiction.

Amy was currently working on her big comeback album.

Kim Kardashian Suing Old Navy For Look-Alike Who's Dating Reggie!

This looks very complicated!

Reality TV mogul Kim Kardashian has decided to sue fashion chain Old Navy as they are using a look-alike to promote their brand.

And to make it even more complicated, the girl in question, Melissa Molinaro, is actually dating Kim's ex-love Reggie Bush.

The 30-year-old reality star is now suing the clothing giant for somewhere in the region of $15 - $20 million. Melissa, who is known to viewers in the US for her time on Pussycat Dolls Presents: The Search For The Next Doll, P. Diddy's show Making The Band and she played a major dancing role in Honey 2.

Mellisa is styled to look exactly like Kim in the ad.

Mellisa's new ad, which resembles a music video has already become massive on Youtube, with over 1.7 million hits already. In the video Mellisa is clearly styled to look like Kim throughout.

Kim filed her federal lawsuit against Old Navy in LA today, stating that Old Navy are using the double in order to make people believe she is associated with the label. The issued statement reads:

"Old Navy launched a multimedia advertising campaign featuring television and online ads that misappropriate Kardashian's likeness in the form of a celebrity look-alike, and styled the infringing ads to evoke Kardashian's identity and persona. Kim Kardashian is immediately recognisable, and is known for her look and style. Her identity and persona are valuable. When her intellectual property rights are violated, she intends to enforce them."

On top of the ad, Old Navy keep on tweeting about the ad, linking Kim to their campaign once again. For example this tweet: "@CBSNEWS reports that Old Navy's Super CUTE star looks like @kimkardashian. #LOL. What do you think?"

Despite all the controversy, Reggie's new bea says she's happy to look like Kim: "To me it's extremely flattering. She is a beautiful woman...That's an amazing compliment."

Mellisa is said to be dating Kim's ex Reggie.

The 29-year-old brunette is probably loving all this press as she is an aspiring singer and actress. Mellisa recently released her debut single 'Dance Floor', where she is seen prancing around and posing in an array of leotards and skimpy bathing suits.

Kim dated Reggie for around 3 years before their shocking split in 2009. She is now engaged to pro basketball player Kris Humphries.

Avril Lavigne Parties On Yacht Without Brody Jenner

It looks like a case of girls just want to have fun here!

Singer Avril Lavigne decided to take a girlie break away as she was spotted partying in France on an expensive yacht with a group of girls.

The 'What The Hell' singer let her hair down and showed off her toned physique as she strolled around drinking and smoking in a teeny-tiny bikini.

It's the first time in months that Avril has been spotted with her reality star boyfriend Brody Jenner. But I wouldn't start any break up rumours just yet. Only the other day Brody took to Twitter to say how much he digs the singer:

"My woman is the SHIT!!!! Hahahaha love her"

Nicola Roberts Says Her New Music Is "Authentic"

My new favourite Girls Aloud member Nicola Roberts has hit back at claims that her new music isn't natural for the red head.

Nicola's first single 'Beat Of My Drum' has got an amazing response by both critcs and fans. A few tracks from her brand new album Cinderella Eyes have already been leaked, and the we're loving the style here at Miss Red.

Rubbishing claims that her new sound isn't really her, Nicola said:

"It's natural, being a fan and loving a band like Major Lazer, that you'd go to somebody like that. It's so out-there and full of imagination. And even with Girls Aloud, we didn't make records with rules. I'm used to working with Xenomania, who take risks, and that's what I feel with Joe, with Diplo. That's where I've come from, so that's where I want to go."

She added that if she was faking both fans and critics would be able to tell a mile away:

"People can sniff out a faker. It would have been really awkward for me to not make a record like this. I'm not comfortable with faking - there's evidence of that in the first six years of the band."

I for one think this is 100% Nicola's vibe, and I'm loving it!
