This is so dissappointing, I've always hoped that one day these two would get together!
Kate Winslet has said that she found it difficult to do sex scenes with ,actor and long time friend, Leonardo DiCaprio in Revolutionary Road while her then-husband Sam Mendes directed the dark flick.
Apparently Winslet started to realize there was something odd with her husband Sam Mendez as apparently he appeared completely comfortable (a bit too comfortable) when she was intimate with Leo on set.
DiCaprio told magazine Reveal:
"It was certainly a difficult time. She was really worried that Sam wasn't bothered by the fact that his wife was making out with another guy right in front of her. I told her it was only acting, but she kept on saying, 'This is really weird'.
"When Sam started telling her exactly how to have sex with me she didn't like it at all. She was freaking out because she was supposed to be having sex with her best friend - me - while her husband directed.
The two stars have been best friends since they made the smash hit Titanic, so it makes sense that love scenes could feel a bit awkward but unlike Kate, Leo was more than comfortable with the sex scenes and even though they are all friends in real life it was fine:
"I didn't find it weird at all. It didn't bother me, because that's part of acting."
Soon Revolutionary Road was released and Winslet won the oscar for Best Actress, herself and Mendes had a trial separation and are now divorced. The flick explored an unhappy marriage and the pressures that come to stay faithful and to stay in love... so maybe life was imitating in art?
Mendez also directed the dark movie American Beauty. Some of the most creative people in the world are the hardest to live with. But I think Kate made the right choice... he seemed more involved with his movies than with his wife.
